Field Conversation (2009)

There is a lot of isolation in flatland cotton and maize farming. Hours are spent in a tractor, repetitively following the rows with the plow or shredder, or on foot with a hoe chopping weeds. Ocassionally you run into family along the turnrows, on their way to work in an adjoining field or into town for supplies. Words are few and drawn out, a kind of mirroring of the slow time and long horizon of the landscape.
